MARS4 : VIRTUAL EXPLORATION
In virtual reality and NFTs, Mars4 is a pioneering force, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Recently, they embarked on an ambitious project to recreate Dubai on Mars, resulting in an extraordinary immersive VR experience.
Approach
The SVAIY Art Industries team was tasked with a challenging scope: to build a VR exploration of Mars’ SuperRare NFT land plots, incorporate elements of Earthly experiences, introduce engaging games, and ensure that each NFT with VR becomes state-of-the-art. The experience was 15-30 minutes long, explicitly focusing on Dubai and the Newton Crater, aptly named “New Dubai.”
Execution
The team faced a daunting 16-week deadline, during which they had to conceptualize, storyboard, and develop the VR video from scratch. The result was a 13:15-minute VR video that takes viewers on an exhilarating journey from Dubai to Mars.
Challenges
The project had its challenges. The team had to create about 12 levels with dynamic plots and scenes, some designed for relaxation and observation. However, the flight scenes over Dubai and Mars presented a unique challenge. Initial tests showed that some users experienced motion sickness due to intense flight sequences. To counter this, the team ingeniously incorporated special handrails on the flight instrument, which helped viewers focus their eyes and alleviate motion sickness.
Outcome
Despite the project’s deadline being pushed back by three months due to the war invasion in Ukraine, the team completed the task. The final product is a testament to their dedication, creativity, and technical prowess. The Mars4 Virtual Exploration can now be enjoyed on Oculus Quest 2 or any other VR headset rendered in Unreal Engine 4. This project serves as a shining example of the potential of VR and NFTs, taking users on a journey from the familiar landscapes of Dubai to the alien terrains of Mars.
